Recent years have seen design awards and critical acclaim for Apple's industrial design team, and with good reason.
In the competitive world of computer design, Apple is raising the bar for both function and form, and the PowerBook G4 is the best example yet.
As the first ever 17" laptop, the new G4 is by far the best-looking to hit the market. Its massive screen size makes it ideal for designers, but probably a little too large and heavy for non-creative types. In itself a testament to the power of good design, this machine is a reminder of why the design community at large favours Apple products.
The overall design is simplicity itself and shows how far Apple has come since the 1997 PowerBook G3. The new sleek, anodised aluminum skin (the beauty of which even die-hard PC-users cannot deny) is a huge selling point, and with its cool, metallic exterior, the PowerBook G4 even feels good.
Admittedly, as a designer, I'm a sucker for beautiful things. Nonetheless, however beautiful a product may be, it has got to do its job well. With its silent drives, fast processing and dedication to design, the PowerBook G4 has been the perfect new addition to our team.
