You will find his products in many bookshops, music shops and even jewellery shops.
Yet, I have a question: how does one define someone like Jimi?
Is he a character designer?
I would think so. Read through his stories and you'll find lots of interesting characters.
A storyteller?
Perhaps. Start talking to his fans and they will not only mention his designs but the whole storyline, especially his most famous love story, A chance of sunshine.
An art director?
Of course. After all, he worked as one in the advertising industry for over 12 years.
An illustrator?
Definitely. Just flip through his stories and you'll see why.
Here's another question.
Are people crazy about his characters because of his story-telling power or do they love his stories because of the characters?
If it is only about the characters, will these still be so popular without the stories?
If Jimi is just a writer, would these stories still be so readable without his illustrations?
All this comes to one conclusion: good designers are just as important as good writers.
After all, there is only one Jimi.
