Wai Wai pushes new flavours in instant noodles

BANGKOK: The battle line has been drawn in the fight for the top spot in Thailand's 9.5 billion baht (US$220 million) instant noodle market.

Wai Wai pushes new flavours in instant noodles

Thai Preserved Food Factory, the maker of Wai Wai noodles, has started its push for market supremacy by releasing two new tom yum flavours: creamy and clear.

To promote the new flavours, the company has launched an 80 million baht (US$1.8 million) advertising campaign, with father-son culinary team MR Thanadsri Svastivat and ML Sirichalerm Svastivat enlisted as the 'face' of the new soups, said Thai Preserved Food managing director, Pricha Napapruekchat.

Thai Preserved Food is the third company to recently release new tom yum flavours, following Saha Pathanapibul and 4-People Foods.

The prize is the lion's share of the 3.8 billion baht tom yum instant noodle market.
