Venetian announces Macau trade shows

MACAU The Venetian Macau has announced it is to host several international trade shows that will significantly boost the SAR's economy. The Venetian, scheduled to open later this year, said it had won 13 separate events for the SAR.

Venetian also claimed to have letters of intent from other trade-show organisers interested in holding events in Macau. "Almost every week the momentum of our Cotai Strip development reaches a new level," said Sheldon G. Adelson, chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp. The Asian Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) is booked for two annual shows with the first taking place in 2008. AAPEX will follow in the footsteps of successful AAPEX shows in Mexico City and Las Vegas. The Las Vegas show is spread over 46,500 sqm of exhibition space with 2,000 exhibiting companies and 80,000 attendees each year. The CMPAsia Jewellery and Watch Show will open in January 2008 and will be a complementary event to the Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair. The Hong Kong event is Asia's largest jewellery fair and one of the top three events of its kind in the world. In 2005 it attracted 811 exhibitors from 26 ountries and 19,603 visitors from 102 countries. The Global Gaming Expo Asia (GGEA), organised by Reed Exhibitions, is booked for two annual shows, the first of whichwill be held in 2008. GGEAis modelled after the successful Global Gaming Expo (G2E) held annually in Las Vegas, occupying 28,000 sqm of exhibition space with 720 exhibiting companies and 17,000 attendees. William Weidner, president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp said: "We can provide organisers with the best resources to plan and execute their events. "More importantly, we can anticipate their needs and react swiftly to meet those needs."
