D'Arcy has strengthened its creative firepower in Malaysia after
acquiring another local shop OT Advertising.
In 1997, the multinational agency bought into Spider Advertising.
Regional creative director Jimmy Lam told MEDIA: "D'Arcy Worldwide
bought OT to merge with Spider/D'Arcy to rename it D'Arcy Malaysia."
Senior executives from the two agencies have been appointed to head-up
D'Arcy Malaysia.
Spider/ D'Arcy president and chief executive officer T.L. Yeap becomes
D'Arcy Malaysia's executive chairman, while Omar Shaari and Thomas Low -
previously OT's managing director and head of creative respectively -
were named managing director and associate regional creative director
respectively.
The trio have worked together for many years in the past and Mr Yeap
said, "This is not an acquisition of an agency but an acquisition of
friends."
Mr Shaari added, "We parted ways to learn 'kung fu' from different
masters.
Having mastered different skills, we have decided to come back together
for one simple reason - compatibility in thought, words and deed."
