Media: Discovery brings new channels to Taiwan viewers

TAIPEI: Discovery Networks Asia has launched Discovery Science and Discovery H&L in Taiwan, ramping up its channel portfolio in the country.

Media: Discovery brings new channels to Taiwan viewers

The two new channels join Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Discovery Travel & Adventure, and will be available on three digital platforms - China Networks Systems, Taiwan Broadband Communications and Eastern Multimedia - which collectively account for over 63 per cent of cable operators in Taiwan. "We were convinced this was the right time to add Discovery Science and Discovery H&L to our lineup," said Discovery Taiwan vice-president and general manager Tommy Lin. "Both channels provide an increased offering of entertaining and informative programmes for our viewers here, and ensure that there will be something for everyone."

In Asia, Discovery Science is currently available in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. Discovery H&L, meanwhile, will be replaced by Discovery Real Time in the second quarter of 2005, as part of the Discovery Lifestyle Networks launch.

To support the Discovery Lifestyle Networks launch, Discovery has tapped creative agencies Brand New World, Jack Watts Currie, Skin Media and Steinbranding to develop a global image campaign.
