McCann-Erickson picks Pat Arches as Philippine CEO

MANILA: McCann-Erickson has appointed Patricia Arches as chief executive officer, taking over the title from Emily Abrera, who retains her post as chairman.

McCann-Erickson picks Pat Arches as Philippine CEO

Formerly its chief operating officer, Arches is concurrently president of McCann, the largest advertising agency in the country.

According to Arches, Abrera wanted to relinquish her CEO position because she wanted to take a broader role in representing the company in the industry.

Abrera, who was the leading force in the much-celebrated San Miguel Pale Pilsen account win recently, had been rumoured to be wanting to retire from the company in two years, although she is only in her early 50s.

Arches said: "In any company, management succession is something you have to address and Emily, from the start, even when she had just been named president, already wanted to prepare somebody to take over."

Arches - a certified public accountant and a graduate of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business - joined the company in 1986, quickly proving her strength in operations and finance management.

She was a recipient of the Harrison K. McCann Leadership Award in 1990 for exemplary performance and outstanding achievements in advertising.
