I avoid Japanese TV - it's largely unwatchable unless you happen to be eight years old. Occasionally I channel surf to see the ads or watch a movie.
Press
I love Fortune Publishing's magazines (from the UK), my favourites are Computer Arts and Create Online - the two best digital design mags out there - good, straight-talking British content, with a sense of humour.
For trade, I read Communication Arts, even though it's America-centric and stuck in a time warp. Actually I don't read it so much as look at it. For Japanese press I read my wife's Asahi Shimbun newspaper. For magazines I read Senden Kaigi to keep up with Japanese mass media, and Internet Magazine. If I'm in the mood for a challenge I sometimes read parts of Nikkei Internet Technology.
Websites
I use many every day, but first thing every morning I check: BBC News, http://news.bbc.co.uk/, I just love this site. It is 'best in class'.
ClickZ, http://www.clickz.com/, I don't really care for the user experience, but I like the content. Good food for thought, with the right degree of detail.
Japan.internet.com, http://japan.internet.com/, very simply keeps me up with breaking news in the Japanese internet industry.
Advertising
Living in Tokyo is living in a totally advertising saturated environment. I am exposed to everything you can possibly think of on a daily basis.
Radio
Japanese radio is worse than Japanese TV. I avoid it at all costs.
