2018 Cannes contenders: 'Putting the roid in Android' by BMF Sydney

This campaign for Sportsbet, which got banned, featured disgraced sprinter Ben Johnson and a Lance Armstrong lookalike.

We asked creative leaders from across the region choose the work they expect (or hope) to see winning at Cannes Lions this year. See all this year's Cannes contenders.

Contender: Putting the roid in Android
Agency: BMF Sydney
Client: Sportsbet

Nominated by:

Rob Martin Murphy, ECD, Ikon:

Humourous. Controversial. Stood out like non-steroid affected balls. Had the mock outrage brigade in a tizz. Was banned too. Which is ironic. Hope it wins a place on the podium.

Nikhil Panjwani, Creative director, BBH:

You know you're on to something good when an ad campaign is funnier than an SNL skit. Kudos to the client for buying something so disruptive and bold! Hope it wins for the sake of humour.
