UM scoops Suntory's media account in China

SHANGHAI - UM has won the media planning and buying account for Suntory’s entire portfolio of products in China.

Suntory needs a media partner that will help leverage its media spend and creative.

UM will work closely with Suntory to maximise the efficiency of TV spend for its popular beer line, Suzhou and Wuxi, in Shanghai. UM will also be responsible for media buying and planning for Suntory's bottled drinks in the city.

OMD and Dentsu, the Japanese brand's long-term incumbent agencies, were also involved in the pitch.

Hans Jiang, director of marketing communications at Suntory (Shanghai) Marketing, said his company was impressed by "the competitive price, the attentiveness and the innovative optimisation model offered by UM".

Suntory has always regarded China as one of its key markets worldwide. The company is currently striving to continue the momentum of their rapid expansion into the country, and needs a media partner that will help leverage its media spend and creative.

Simon Woodward, CEO of UM China, said the agency looks forward to delivering "innovations and tangible value" for Suntory across their portfolio of brands.
