For the TVC created by Ogilvy, Kentucky's 311 residents were offered a unique opportunity to taste KFC's new Sweet Sesame Crunch chicken prior to its nationwide release in Australia.
The commercial, which launches today (3 July), features the small town's residents offering their feedback on the new chicken dish basted with an Asian style glaze and sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds.
The concept for the TVC is steeped in the company's roots. Back in 1929, KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders started out by offering Kentucky (US) residents and passers-by his chicken.
"We were really excited to reinvigorate this heritage offering and provide Kentucky, NSW residents with an exclusive opportunity to try our latest chicken creation," said Nikki Lawson, chief marketing officer, KFC SOPAC.
“We had a great turn-out for the commercial and the feedback on our new Sweet Sesame Crunch chicken was outstanding. We can’t wait to share this new recipe with all Australians,” added Lawson.
Media and public relations duties for the campaign were handled by MediaCom and Edelman, respectively.
