2018 Cannes contenders: 'Armoured truck' by DDB New Zealand

An apparent heist flick is actually a film for Lotto NZ—and was inspired by a true story.

2018 Cannes contenders: 'Armoured truck' by DDB New Zealand
We asked creative leaders from across the region choose the work they expect (or hope) to see winning at Cannes Lions this year. See all this year's Cannes contenders.

Contender: Armoured truck
Agency: DDB New Zealand
Client: Lotto NZ

Nominated by:

Derek Green, ECD, Ogilvy Sydney:

FILM CRAFT: The Armoured Car Film is a beautifully crafted film that is part of their ‘Imagine’ platform. The film was inspired by the true story of a Kiwi bloke who won $15 million, honoured a promise made long ago, and went halves with his mate. It’s absolutely stunning. Two thumbs up.

Rob Martin Murphy, ECD, Ikon:

A charming true story, lovingly re-told. Makes you want to buy a lotto ticket, call your best friend and make a pact to go 50-50 if you win. Should be bringing a lion or two back to New Zealand. Armoured truck, optional.
