Tourism Australia hires DDB to handle global creative work

SYDNEY - Tourism Australia (TA) has named DDB Worldwide as global creative agency for its US$169 million advertising account for the next three years.

“We have chosen an agency partner that is at the top of the creative game globally,” said Rick Allert, chairman of TA. The Omnicom agency will support global marketing for the $120 million Baz Luhrmann film, Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, which will debut in November.

“DDB will maximise our promotional opportunities around the movie which offers huge potential to motivate people who see the film to then see the country,” added Geoff Buckley, MD of TA. M&C Saatchi, which created the controversial ‘Where the bloody hell are you?’ campaign, was dropped in May.
