Why launch Timeout Shanghai? TimeOut (TO) is a magazine that celebrates the city, and Shanghai has lots to celebrate. In the past 10 years, a real Shanghai city culture has evolved. What dawned on me is that we need a good listings magazine for the Chinese who love to enjoy Shanghai, not just for the English-speaking set.

What can the magazine offer to readers and advertisers? Our readers are what we offer to the advertisers. These are the big spenders in Shanghai, they are the dream consumer that every advertiser wants, the up-coming and steadily growing Chinese middle to high class. They are consumers who are confident, ready to enjoy life, and ready to spend.

What features will excite PROs? If they are looking to reach high income and socially active consumers, then they should be very excited about the collaboration TO Shanghai has with Bank of China (BOC). TO is in charge of organising marketing events for BOC premium cardholders. This provides an opportunity for PROs to get involved and start word-of-mouth marketing of their products among very important consumers.
