MindShare Beijing chalks up $22m in wins

BEIJING - MindShare Beijing has picked up three new clients, whose combined spend could reach Rmb 170 million (US$22 million).

Fu Rui Tang, a Chinese pharmaceuticals company, is looking to spend around Rmb 100 million; TCL, one of China’s biggest electronics companies, has a Rmb  30 milllion to 50 million account, while KVB Kunlun, a financial services company, has a budget of Rmb 20 million.

Maisie He, business director of MindShare Beijing, said Fu Rui Tang previously did all its buying in-house and the business was handed to the agency without a pitch.

“Local clients don’t mind so much about the complications of an agency handling many clients from the same sector,” she said. “They view the previous experience as beneficial.”

TCL is looking to launch a new corporate image to appeal to the global market and has also brought in David to handle creative. The agencies have been courting TCL for a while. The planning business was won in a pitch against Dentsu and OMD, which handle some of TCL’s other buying accounts, as well as local agencies.

KVB Kunlun’s account is for initial branding, with the company looking to launch its first products into the Chinese market next year. KVB already has operations in Australia and Hong Kong.
