Detikcom garners more than 25 million page views a day, and more than 2.2 million readers access the site via smartphones. The partnership covers all traffic to Detikcom’s iOS and Android applications for both smartphones and tablet devices.
The agreement goes live on 20 March, by which time several of Detikcom's core apps are expected to receive approval from Apple's iTunes store.
“This partnership will enable us to deliver rich media ads via Detikcom’s apps to its steadily growing mobile readership base,” Phalgun Raju, InMobi's regional director and general manager for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, told Campaign in a phone interview.
InMobi and Detikcom have worked together for more than two years prior to this agreement. “This discussion started because of our positive relationship," Raju said. "For Detikcom, we’re the market leader in Indonesia and capable of driving their business. And from our end, Detikcom is a key partner.”
InMobi’s rich-media capabilities and global ad network led Detikcom to select them, said Gerry Leo Nugroho, group head of marketing service at Detikcom. “We’re delighted to be the first publishers to bring HTML5 mobile advertising to our consumers on such a large scale,” he added.
