This marks HSBC's first major Hong Kong-centric ad campaign in over a decade.

Created by Bates 141 Hong Kong in partnership with Mindshare, the 30-and 45-second TVCs launches today on major TV stations TVB, Now TV and iCable.

Simon Shing, business director of Bates 141, explained, "We want to strengthen the brand's affinity in Hong Kong with the core idea 'The foundation of progress', as HSBC has created many milestones in banking services development in Hong Kong over the past century."

To bring the idea to life, the agency has partnered with a visual effects company from Spain and director Alfred Hau, the man behind a number of award-winning campaigns for Cathay Pacific and Wellcome.

The TVC features a special technique used to visualise the progress of Hong Kong and the development of the banking sector from a unique underground point of view.

"In this new TVC, we recreate the history and rebuild the fascinating city of Hong Kong from this unique perspective," added Shing
