The pitch also involved the incumbent Edelman, Ketchum and a local PR agency.

"We are delighted to be named New Balance's public relations agency partner in China," said Sarah Chin, vice-president and general manager at Golin Harris Shanghai. "We look forward to delivering exceptional results to New Balance."

Golin Harris will help New Balance build their appeal as a fashion lifestyle apparel brand.

According to the agency, they recently appointed Fiona Jing to strengthen the firm's fashion and lifestyle capabilities in China.

Jing brings more than ten years' experience in public relations and marketing, including a recent marketing role at Crocs China. She will be responsible for driving the agency's efforts in the apparel, fashion and lifestyle sectors, including local youth apparel brand Semir which the agency won last year.

Reported in August, Golin Harris hired Jeremy Walker to lead its sports marketing and branded entertainment PR team.
