Creative pair join Lowe Shanghai to handle Interbrew

Lowe China has beefed up its management team in Shanghai after a series of new business wins, which include the creative brief for four beer brands of Belgium's Interbrew group (Media, April 23).

Li Wenlong and Chen Jing have been appointed as creative directors for the new team on the Interbrew assignment. The appointments will reunite the pair, who first started working together as a team in 1998 during a two-year stint at Grey Beijing. Addison James, managing director of Lowe China, said Li and Chen would work on a broad range of accounts, but would be primarily responsible for the Interbrew business. "Li and Chen believe the category has a lot of potential to produce some really cut-through, famously popular ads," said James. Li's forte is art direction and Chen's is copywriting. The pair worked mainly on local brands such as beer label Chu Tian, before Lowe. Lowe has also appointed Emily Chan, who was previously managing partner at Draft Singapore, as client services director for its Shanghai operation, with responsibility for the Johnson & Johnson account. James said that Chan was hired because of her experience in integrated marketing. Chan has also been tasked with training, hiring and running the client service department, which has more than 40 people.
