CNA HD programmes acquire international distributors

SINGAPORE - Independent distributors have acquired a slate of High Definition content by MediaCorp's regional news network, Channel NewsAsia (CNA), for international distribution.

A total of 17 hours of high quality programmes will get worldwide representation by international distributors, Looking Glass International, Electric Sky and ID Distribution.

The half-hour programmes include documentaries and lifestyle shows such as “Rivers of our time”, “After 12”, “It’s Organic” and “Design A-Z”. Supported by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), these titles are produced locally for CNA.

Woon Chuk Chan, vice-president of network programming and promotions of Channel NewsAsia, said: “The channel invests in programmes that can add value to audiences either in their business or simply for leisurely viewing. There are many interesting facets of life in Asia, which have yet to be told, and this raft of programmes picks out just some aspects of the unique lifestyle and culture that is Asia. We are pleased that international viewers can share in these documentaries through the worldwide distribution.”

Dr Christopher Chia, CEO of MDA, added: “There is rising international interest in stories from Asia, told from an Asian perspective. Besides showcasing the rich possibilities of Asia through food, culture, travel and design, the slate underscores two strengths of Singapore production capabilities - our commitment to High Definition productions and success in factual programming.”
