Western Australia to push delegate deals

PERTH The Perth Convention Exhibition Centre (Perth Centre) has launched Explore WA, a value-added incentive for conference delegates.

The delegate card and an accompanying pocketsized booklet, provides incentives and discounts with 100 participating tourism providers throughout the state, including restaurants, cafes, bars, entertainment attractions, retailers, tours, health and beauty, regional accommodation and various leisure activities. The first major order for the complimentary card has been received for an upcoming medical conference at the centre. Supported by Tourism WAand programme partners Skywest, Budget Rent A Car and Best Western Australia, Explore WA is designed to encourage delegates to combine their conference with a holiday in the state. Tourism figures show delegates stay in Western Australia for between seven and ten days before or after their conference. The discount card follows on from the Destination WAcoffee-book printed in 2003, showcasing the state's attractions and is part of the whole-state approach taken in marketing the Perth Centre, according to Diane Norvick, PCEC director of marketing and sales. "Our first commitment is to attract people to Perth and to the convention centre, and to provide them with these value-added tools which helps in our positioning of Perth and the creativity of the convention centre. "It promotes the variety and diversity of the product and the infrastructure around Perth and encourages delegates to visit our attractions," she said.
