TVB brings HD offer to online audience

HONG KONG - TVB has accompanied its shift to HDTV by launching a new interactive component for its first high-definition content, beginning with new series Wars of the in-laws.

A website, www.tvcity.tvb. com, offers advertisers the opportunity to broaden their messaging to a potentially larger audience.

According to TVB.com’s new COO Ivy Wong, the website also means that advertisers - which include Estée Lauder, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Cathay Pacific - can bring real interactivity to their advertising campaigns.

“It is an interactive promotional format for advertisers to soft-sell their products or services, so that consumers can click for further information on the products mentioned in the programmes,” said Wong, adding that TVB developed the site in-house.

Wong added that the prices for online ads on the site start at HK$30,000 (US$3,800), and vary according to the duration of the package.

Wong joined TVB.com late last year with a remit to build the station’s flagging online presence.

The next programme to be featured will be drama series 7 days, shot in Japan.
