Superloop’s latest ad turns super fast internet into a worthy brag

A slightly absurd, very noisy film about fast internet speed. Ad Nut wonders if the internet could ever be slow, and whether humans would survive the horror.

Ad Nut never gave a thought to internet commercials, or internet speed for that matter mostly because Ad Nut has been outrunning those murderous beasts without WiFi for a millenia now. But in the latest embrace of the absurd, internet provider Superloop and creative major Leos Australia have launched an over-the-top campaign to celebrate their claim to be Australia’s fastest fixed network. Ad Nut assumes this is true, although speed comparisons rarely come with a squirrel-scale chronometer, so Ad Nut cannot verify.

Launched in 45- and 30-second formats, the work marks the return of Sunny, the earnest neighbourhood advocate from last year's campaign, a man so thrilled with his internet speed that he shouts out his Wi-Fi password, only to regret it later.

“What we love about this campaign is that the idea really originated with Superloop customers. We see them in the forums and the comment sections sharing their Superloop experience—their speeds and reliability—with others, so we unleashed Sunny to do the same,” said Ben Colman, chief marketing officer at Superloop. Ad Nut admires this. Any brand that listens to its fans rather than just turning a deaf ear earns points in Ad Nut’s ledger.

Sunny takes this civic duty to the streets to ensure every neighbour knows that Superloop surges faster than a squirrel leaping from oak to oak. It's a lighthearted watch and leans into with a sense of humour only the internet itself could appreciate—it's quirky and self-aware, delivered with a hyperbole that leaves Ad Nut bemused and mildly entertained.

Tommy Cehak, executive creative director at Leo Australia, added: “As with anything in life, when you’re onto a good thing, you want to tell everyone. That’s what it’s like when you have internet at Superloop speeds – don’t share your Wi-Fi password.”

The ad spans video on demand, social, OOH, and radio.
