SINGAPORE Singapore has become the first Asian venue for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) examination.

SINGAPORE Singapore has become the first Asian venue for the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) examination. The examination was held on September 30 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. One of the main drivers behind bringing the CMP examination to Singapore is Pacific World Singapore managing director Mr Bob Guy. "The CMP certification is a distinct competitive advantage in our industry,"Mr Guy said. "Our commitment to continued education for our staff translates into the highest possible service levels for our clients. In return, our customers can have trust and have confidence in us because we support their objectives." To set the example, several of Pacific World's key staff would be taking the examination. Supporting the launch of CMP certification in Asia are the Convention Industry Council (CIC), Society of Incentive & Travel Executives, Malaysia Airlines, Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts and Suntec Singapore, with additional support from Meeting Professionals International. The CIC launched the CMP programme in 1985 to enhance meeting professionalism and the status of the meeting profession as well as advance uniform standards. There are now 8,998 members from 19 countries.
