Microsoft appoints Yeung as Hong Kong GM

HONG KONG - Microsoft has named Peter Yeung (pictured) as the new general manager of its operation in Hong Kong, replacing Herman Lam, who is leaving the company after thirteen years.

According to a statement from Microsoft, Yeung will be responsible for leading overall strategy, business operations and outreach. His role will take effect from next month and will see him report to Simon Leung, the firm’s corporate vice-president, chairman and chief executive.

In the statement, Leung expressed confidence in Yeung’s ability to “promote [Microsoft’s] role as a key partner in Hong Kong’s drive to become a leading digital hub and knowledge economy”.

Yeung joins Microsoft from Jardine OneSolution (JOS), a Hong Kong-based IT support firm, where he served as managing director. Yeung has worked in the IT industry for over 30 years.

Separately, Microsoft has promoted Joelle Woo as director of business and marketing organisation in Hong Kong. Woo, who has been with the firm ten years, will report directly to Yeung. She replaces Adam Anger, who will take on the position of head of Windows business group for Greater China.
