Several magazines targeting the young adult market were launched in the last two years and Store Magazine was one of the newcomers to Hong Kong's crowded market.
Launched about a year ago, Store was relaunched last April. Positioned as a magazine of fashion, design, living and dreaming, it's reminiscent of City Magazine in its early days. It's targeted at educated youngsters who are trend-conscious. The magazine's simple and clean layout helps it to stand out quite smartly when compared with other newly-launched lifestyle magazines. The quality of its photography and art direction, especially its front cover, will also increase its chances of attracting attention at newsstands.
Plus, its montage of interesting text with fashion/product photos in the 'Stuff' section makes for an interesting chemistry between the article and the visual. It's also quite innovative to have an editorial theme for each issue. The content is, however, still weak in terms of diversity.
There is room for creative flair and improvement on some articles. That said, other articles are quite excellent.
But to make the readers feel they're getting value for money, Store must beef up its content especially by providing solid information on fashion/design/music trends etc.
