McDonald's, Leo Burnett celebrate 30 years in the Philippines

MANILA – Classic TVC’s and a host of favourite Filipino fast-food are being brought back as McDonald’s celebrates its 30th anniversary in the Philippines with a new campaign from Leo Burnett Manila.

McDonald's, Leo Burnett celebrate 30 years in the Philippines

The new campaign includes classic TV commercials and popular ang pao coupons, which McDonald's first distributed in 2002. The revival of classic television commercials started in December with ‘Simbang Gabi’ last December and the 'Kita-kits' spot and Karen-Gina re-airing this January.

Margot Torres, McDonald's Philippines vice-president for marketing explained that the line ‘30 years of McDonald's Magic’ represents what McDonald's has really brought to the Philippines since 1981.

She added that the brief was to announce coupon efforts with an impactful print ad cum
non-traditional coupon distribution channel on first working day of the year.

In a new take on the traditional red ang pao envelopes distributed in previous years, the 30th anniversary coupons are an accordion, designed small enough to fit in wallets placed inside newspapers.

The coupons promote Filipino favourites Chicken McDo and McFloat.
