McCann launches 'Harry's' agencies in SE Asia

SOUTHEAST ASIA - McCann Worldgroup is launching a series of new agencies around Southeast Asia.

The first two agencies will be set up in Singapore and Thailand. They will be branded Harry’s after network founder Harrison McCann.

The agencies will be standalone entities in each market. Mark Ingrouille (pictured), McCann Worldgroup’s regional director for Southeast Asia, said the Singapore agency, named Harry’s Big Idea, will be a “creative innovations hub” for international clients. Diageo is a launch client.

The Bangkok agency will be called Harry’s Original and will be “focused more on local Thai clients that demand nimble, quick, effective solutions.”

One of its launch clients is Ivy, a local juice brand.

Harry’s Big Idea will be led by former McCann Bangkok ECD, Philip Rowell. Harry’s Original is overseen by Kittiwan Anuwatesakul, formerly brand director at McDonald’s in Thailand.

Later in the year, Harry’s Unique will launch in Jakarta. It will focus exclusively on local Indonesian brands and be project-focused.

Ingrouille confirmed that the agencies, which will be made up of planners and creatives, could be used as conflict shops but would look for other business.

McCann already has a second agency in Manila named Harrison.

“Each Harry’s will operate independently from the others, adapting to local needs. This is not a new Southeast Asia mini-network,” said Ingrouille. “They will both be able to draw on other Worldgroup skillsets as and when needed.”
