Kookmin Card awards creative duties to Innocean in post-pitch turnaround

SEOUL – Kookmin Bank is understood to have transferred creative duties for its US$20 million credit card account to Innocean Worldwide after having initially retained incumbent Oricom after a two-way pitch.

The decision reportedly follows post-pitch lobbying by Innocean, the in-house agency of domestic conglomerate Hyundai Group. Kookmin recently appointed Innocean to handle its corporate PR account but spending has since been low, according to a source close to the business. The source indicated that the subsequent decision to award creative duties to Innocean was likely to be out of obligation to offset the low spend on the PR account.

Innocean works with Hyundai Card in addition to Kookmin Card. The agency is expected to assume duties for the new account from March. Innocean did not respond to enquiries regarding the win at press time.

Kookmin Bank took over Kookmin Credit Card (KCC) in 2003.
