Café de Coral raises bar in birthday ads

HONG KONG - Café de Coral is looking to reposition itself as a 'total dining experience' as it celebrates its 40th anniversary with a campaign that underlines its motto, 'A hundred points of excellence'.

“Instead of just a fast food restaurant where people come, eat and go, we hope to offer a total dining experience with premium-quality food, cooking processes, service and ambience, which are not just value for money, but exceed customers’ expectations,” said Carmen Leung, assistant marketing director, Café de Coral.

Two TV spots were filmed in the waters near New Zealand and underlining the fact that Café de Coral offers freshly-caught hoki fish, rather than frozen imports.

With more than 130 restaurants in Hong Kong, Café de Coral is well ahead of direct competitors Fairwood (88 outlets) and Maxim’s MX (70). Competition from individual operators of local cafes is increasing, however.
