TAIPEI - Red Bull has attempted to distance itself from the exploits of Felix Baumgartner, who illegally jumped from the Taipei 101 building yesterday with a parachute emblazoned with the Red Bull logo.

Red Bull denies involvement with Taipei 101 jump stunt

The stunt has made headline news, but Red Bull - which has sponsored Baumgarter's extreme sports activities in the past - has denied involvement.

A statement issued by Cottingham, which distributes Red Bull in Taiwan, read: "Felix Baumgartner's projects are organized by himself. Red Bull cannot contribute to further enquiries on this matter."

However a source at Cottingham referred to Baumgartner as a "branded asset" referring to his previous stunt work for the energy drink brand.

Meanwhile a quote from Baumgartner appears on Red Bull's website (redbull.com): "I failed three times [to jump from the world's tallest building], but I've finally realized this dream."
