MTR unveils world's first 3D ad display

The MTR Corporation has launched the world's first 3D display within a train carriage to offer advertisers a new outdoor advertising opportunity with greater creative flexibility.

The transparent display compartment is being driven by a locomotive running between passenger train services during non-peak hours along the Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Island Lines.

Sony Ericsson was the first client to make use of the medium, with a campaign featuring a 3D display of four of its Sony Walkman phone series. Sony Ericsson has also taken over Causeway Bay station, including panel ads and posters, and kicked off an interactive competition offering phones as prizes.

Teresa Fung, GM of JCDecaux Pearl & Dean, said that the new medium is expected to attract a wide range of advertisers because of its high impact, interactive nature.
