Events software merger boosts Amlink global role

Sydney Brisbane computer-software development company, Amlink Technologies, has acquired Peopleware Inc of Seattle to create the world's largest supplier of conference and event management systems.

The merger will see Amlink's flagship product, EVENTS Pro, replace Peopleware's software, though the Peopleware name will be retained. "We'll use elements of Peopleware's systems to further strengthen our EVENTS products and we will continue to support Peopleware going forward," said Amlink director Trevor Gardiner. "Peopleware has an excellent track record in North America and its software is used by universities, hospitals, corporations, associations and conference organisers across the continent." All clients will have the opportunity to upgrade and migrate to the EVENTS suite of software products at no cost. "Peopleware will effectively be a division of Amlink Technologies and retain its name," said Gardiner. Amlink currently employs 45 people internationally. Its event management software has been used in the logistical management of the Athens Olympic Games opening and closing ceremonies, the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and the Rugby World Cup 2003.
