CHE Proximity Melbourne won 22 awards, and various Mindshare offices walked away with 23 trophies tonight as the Tangrams awards for Asia-Pacific effectiveness and strategy were handed out at the conclusion of day one of Spikes Asia 2018.
In addition, Mindshare was named the Network of the Year, PHD New Zealand won Agency of the Year in Media Strategy, and CHE Proximity Australia was named Agency of the Year in the Effectiveness and Digital Strategy streams.
In all, the juries bestowed 92 Tangrams—three platinums, 33 golds, 28 silvers and 28 bronzes—from the shortlist of 167. The Effectiveness stream yielded 29 awards, followed by Media Strategy (24), Digital Strategy (21), Data & Analytics (10) and e-Commerce (8).
Other big winners on the night included PHD agencies, with 10 awards (seven of them from New Zealand), MediaCom with a total of seven and The Womb Mumbai with four awards.
On a country basis, Australia led with 28 nods, followed closely by China (25) and then India (9), Hong Kong (8) and New Zealand (7).
PLATINUM WINNERS
In each stream, the jury can elect to give one gold winner a platinum award. The three platinum winners this year were:
Data & Analytics: CHE Proximity Melbourne, 'The Billion Point Giveaway'
This campaign for Velocity Frequent Flier won a total of nine awards on the night: five golds, two silvers and two bronzes—although only one of these (a gold) came in the Data & Analytics stream.
Effectiveness: The Womb India, 'Let’s make viral products instead!'
This entry for Saregama India earned three golds in the Effectiveness stream.
Media Strategy: Mindshare Australia, 'The Prison Rat That Stole No. 1'
This work for Foxtel won two golds and a silver in the Media Strategy stream.
