ZenithOptimedia, Group M lead SEA race for Nestlé biz

Nestlé's ongoing global media review has shifted its focus to Southeast Asia, following presentations by ZenithOptimedia and Group M in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.

The news comes after Nestlé delayed its Greater China pitch, following an infant formula scandal in China. Thailand is expected to host presen- tations; Vietnam has yet to brief the two groups, while the Philippines has also delayed its review.

The review is expected to result in significant account losses for Universal McCann, which handles portions of the Nestlé business across Southeast Asia in addition to its briefs in Greater China and India.

ZenithOptimedia handles Nestlé in the Philippines and Australia, while Group M holds parts of the business in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

The Southeast Asia business, excluding the Philippines, is valued at US$50 million. Nestlé is now in the second phase of a global media review, initiated last year.
