Visa consolidates media with OMD

GLOBAL - Visa has consolidated its global media buying and planning with Asia-Pacific incumbent OMD, after a final round of pitching that also included MEC.

However, the decision will not include the Team Visa Olympics marketing business, which MEC secured in mid-2007. In addition, it is believed that a decision on the European Union countries - where MEC is incumbent - is still pending. In Asia-Pacific, the consolidation will see OMD add Japan to its existing business. In that market, the account shifts from ADK/ Dentsu to OMD Hakuhodo.

Visa is also believed to be restructuring its global marketing team under new CMO Antonio Lucio. It is thought that Alex Craddock, a senior marketer overseeing product and communication  in Asia-Pacific, will relocate from Singapore to San Franciso to take on a new global position.
