Total Elf picks Aegis for global media

PARIS - Oil giant Total Elf has awarded its US$100 million global media business to Vizeum, handing the Aegis Media agency the business in India, China and other oil-consuming markets in Asia Pacific.

Vizeum saw off pitch contenders ZenithOptimedia and Initiative to retain the account in France, Total Elf's home base, and picks up media duties in 25 markets including Asia Pacific where the company is estimated to spend US$8 million.

Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Pakistan are expected to join India and China in Vizeum's care next year.

The move is welcome news for Aegis Media, which learned it would miss out on the final round of the US$650 million global media pitch for Visa recently (Media, 20 November).
