Tiger drops DDB as pitch moves to second stage

Incumbent DDB failed to make the cut in the Tiger Beer creative review after four rivals made the shortlist for the beer label's domestic business.

Lester Tan, Asia-Pacific Breweries commercial manager, said the final battle would be between BBDO, Young & Rubicam, M&C Saatchi and Leo Burnett. Tan said: "Working with DDB has taken us this far. Now, as we are preparing for the next stage, we are looking for a creative agency to help us. DDB didn't make the cut. We're focusing on creative (strengths)." David Tang, managing director at DDB Singapore, added: "Three years ago, DDB put Singapore back into Tiger Beer with 'What time is it?'. It got a whole country talking about their beer, it got sales up. Tiger was at its very best when it dared to stand up as Singapore's very own. We've seen the best of times, but we've also seen how a good idea can lose its way. DDB won't be pitching this time round, it's time they decide what they want to be."
