Southeast Asia: Marrett sets up branded content firm for TV, web

SINGAPORE: Former Batey Singapore chief executive Nick Marrett has launched Octtane for the production of entertainment content for brands.

Marrett said the company would focus on brand building and entertainment.

"We are content creators. It's about coming up with creative content and finding distribution.

"This is not product placement or brand sponsorship. It involves the creation of an entertainment experience - for film, TV or the web - from the ground up based squarely on the values and philosophies of the client's brand."

The company claims to have signed a deal with a brand for the production of a TV show, which will be broadcast next year. However, Marrett declined to give details.

Lesley Campbell, the senior vice-president (commercial), added: "The channel gets great content for free, the brand gets distribution and viewers at home get high quality entertainment."

Marrett, who is chief executive and chairman of Octtane, worked under Ian Batey and rose to become chief executive of Batey Singapore after 10 years. He left Batey last year. Campbell began her career in London but moved over to Discovery Networks as senior VP of marketing and communications.

She left in 2002 to start her own consultancy.
