SINGAPORE: M&C Saatchi regional creative director, Paul Ruta, has
left after four and a half years following a restructuring of the
agency.
Ruta, who is debating whether to stay in Singapore, move to Hong Kong or
back to the US, said: "The agency has been completely restructured and
there's not really much for me to do." Ruta had no involvement with
other M&C Saatchi offices in the region, largely staying in Singapore
despite his regional title.
Last year, Shane Gibson, previously head of art at M&C Saatchi
Melbourne, took over the creative director's role from Ruta. Gibson also
hired several senior creatives to work on accounts previously handled by
Ruta.
This meant Ruta was no longer involved in the day-to-day running of the
creative department, said Huw Griffith, chief executive of M&C.
He said the agency tried creating a new role for Ruta which involved
overseeing all the creative work, but "we couldn't deliver on that
because we're not the sort of agency that can have all those layers".
