WELLINGTON Tourism New Zealand has no plans to initiate a marketing campaign to attract Asia's convention market to the destination, despite launching strategies such as sales missions and training sessions targeting the leisure market. The tourist office's manager Asia Mr Tony Everitt said this type of campaigning would not be cost-effective for Tourism New Zealand, as the destination was a niche market and not as strong in the convention sector as in leisure. "Leisure dominates our visitor numbers, although incentives remain high on our priority list," Mr Everitt said.
