Media Prima raises business fortunes

KUALA LUMPUR - Media Prima has reported a 41 per cent rise in revenue and 101 per cent jump in profit in the first quarter of 2008 thanks to growth from its recently acquired outdoor companies.

Higher revenues from the media giant’s TV and radio assets also contributed to a strong balance sheet which saw revenue grow to RM160 million (US$49 million) and profits swell to RM17 million.

“We are very pleased with the strong performance of all of our media assets,” said group MD and CEO, Abdul Rahman Ahmad (pictured).

Media Prima’s core assets include The New Straits Times Press, TV channels 8tv, ntv7, TV3 and TV9, radio stations HotFM and FlyFM. It acquired outdoor media firms Big Tree Outdoor and The Right Channel in March 2007.
