TOKYO: Japan's national newspaper, The Asahi Shimbun, has launched
a website to put its redesigned English language media kit online.
This comes as the paper steps up efforts to attract regional advertisers
outside of Japan.
International advertisers contribute 10 per cent of sales revenue,
according to Tsuyoshi Hamaguchi, advertising director for Asia and
Oceania.
The paper has also set up a Singapore sales office, and launched a
campaign to promote its new media kit, which targets advertisers and ad
agencies.
The media kit is available online at adv.asahi.com/English, and consists
of 200 pages, which include information on Japan's market and
newspapers.
The advertising campaign will focus on the site's URL and will roll out
in major trade magazines this month.
The paper, which has a circulation of 8.3 million, expects the site will
enable it to develop regional travel and tourism accounts.
