MUMBAI: Fresh from winning one of India's biggest media deals, The

Media Edge (TME) has scooped consumer goods company, the Parle Group's

combined media assignment worth US$8.5 million.

The confectionary and biscuit producer and distributor previously used a

roster of agencies for both media and creative. TME is no stranger to

Parle. The agency's chief executive, Divya Gupta, said: "Through one of

our sister agencies, Everest Integrated Communications, we were already

handling more than US$5.1 million of its work."

Parle owns 52-year old biscuit brand, Parle G, apart from Krackjack and

Monaco, candies Kismi Bar, Poppins and Toffy, and mango drink Frooti,

all handled by Everest Integrated Communications. It also has India's

leading mineral water brand Bisleri, serviced by Ambience D'Arcy.

The latest win allows TME to cap the last quarter on a high note. Before

the Parle Group triumph, TME had been appointed agency of record by

Indian conglomerate, the Tata Group, for its US$41 million

account, an assignment which is spread across 14 of its companies.

Following a highly successful last quarter, TME now handles media buying

for clients from a range of categories such as automobiles, watches,

hotels, tea and beverages, software consultancy and insurance.
