McCann's Down retires and CEO job goes to Kim

McCann Worldgroup has appointed a new chief of its Korean operations, promoting T Kim to become CEO and president, replacing John Down, who is retiring after seven years in Seoul and 20 years with McCann.

Kim, currently based in Hong Kong as Asia-Pacific director of regional accounts, will take up his new duties in October, returning to his home country after a break of two years. He will report to T H Peng, area director for McCann Worldgroup North Asia. Kim's current regional remit will be absorbed by Mike Wong, MD for Hong Kong and Greater China VP. Kim aims to promote a more holistic offering, in line with McCann assembling its disciplines under the Worldgroup banner this year. "One of the objectives will be to expand the Worldgroup offering in addition to advertising and media," he said. Kim has also been briefed to locate new business opportunties in Korea, from both local advertisers and its global roster.
