McCann wins Beijing anti-smoking account

BEIJING - The World Lung Foundation (WLF) has appointed McCann Healthcare China to spearhead its public service campaign countering tobacco smoke in Beijing, following an uncontested pitch.

To build awareness and change behaviour among China’s smoking masses - one of every three cigarettes smoked worldwide is smoked in China - WLF has teamed up with the Beijing Patriotic Health and Culture Committee (BPHCC) and Beijing television. The campaign is expected to include multimedia public service announcements warning against second-hand smoke, combined with smoking bans in public places.

The first TV public service announcement was broadcast on Beijing TV’s ten channels on 14 May.
