The network wants to base its key talent in Shanghai, including Tomaz Mok who relinquished his role as Beijing managing director and ECD to become China chief creative officer; and David Lin who is moving from Hong Kong as integrated creative director.
The MDs post in the three primary cities have also been abolished and replaced with a model along business lines under the leadership of vice-presidents/business group directors. The Guangzhou group has been taken over by former MD Wendy Tseng, and Beijing by former China business development director, Larry Feng. Two groups were set up in Shanghai under Margaret Chan, a former client services director at Leo Burnett China, and Sharon Kum, most recently regional business director. Shanghai MD Chit Quah left ahead of the restructuring to pursue other opportunities. McCann China chief executive officer T.H. Peng said the restructuring was designed to "rid geographical turfs and centralise the agency's operations".
In a separate development, Warren Chan has replaced Gary Sin as Magna China MD.
