Malaysia set for four more radio stations in 2004

KUALA LUMPUR: In a bid to capitalise on increasing ad revenues, four new Malaysian radio stations are set for launch in the coming months.

TV3 has disclosed plans to launch three stations, in what will be the first foray for its owner, Media Prima, into the increasingly lucrative radio sector.

Meanwhile, after successfully launching the Bahasa Malay-language Sinar station in March, AMP Radio has been tipped to bring out a new radio channel.

Anthony Firdauz Bujan, general manager of the brand management group at TV3, explained that it made sense to offer a full range of media services under one umbrella.

"We are seeking to launch three radio channels," said Bujan. "Under our holding company, we are looking at the whole spectrum of media activities, so radio is a natural extension."
