JWT trumps rivals to grab Nike India creative business

JWT Bangalore has won the creative account of Nike, following a six-month, multi-agency pitch.

The footwear part of the account -- Nike Air -- was previously with Rediffusion DYR. JWT has now taken over the footwear, accessories and apparel range.

Nike, which opened a 100 per cent-owned office in Bangalore last year, has been in the Indian market for the last nine years, operating through a licensing agreement with the Sierra Group (also a licensee of Tommy Hilfiger footwear and socks in India).

Nike's mission has been to bring "inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world", said Dhunji Wadia, senior VP and general manager, JWT Bangalore. "We will be involved in the entire gamut of above- and below-the-line communication for all the sports Nike chooses to associate with."

Nike has a distribution network of over 700 Nike stores and shops across India.
