JWT taps Ferrer to share Manila job with Manalo

JWT Manila has beefed up its creative corps, hiring Dave Ferrer as executive creative director.

Ferrer, whose award-winning work for BBDO Guerrero Ortega has made him one of the Philippines' hottest talents, will share the ECD title with Shu Manalo, a JWT veteran, whose promotion was also announced. "I first met Dave Ferrer when we were both working at Saatchi & Saatchi," said JWT vice-chairman Matt Seddon, referring to Ferrer's earlier stint at the Manila office when Seddon was based in Kuala Lumpur. "His career progression has been meteoric."

Ferrer has consistently been ranked as the most awarded art director in the Philippines. In three successive Philippine Ad Congresses, he racked up 22 golds and one platinum award. He won the country's first award at AdFest in 1999 for FedEx. Ferrer also picked up a Spike at the Media awards for adidas' 'Streetball'.

David Guerrero, chairman and chief creative officer of BBDO, said, "It has not been an easy decision for Dave to leave. However, after much discussion and consideration, he has decided this seems the right one for him and he goes with my blessing."

Seddon is optimistic that Ferrer's entry will spark the creative transformation JWT has embarked on.
